The Beginning: Karting
It all started on the 21st of March 1960, São
Paulo (Santana).
Ayrton Senna Da Silva was born. And from
a very early age he had a passion for cars. His father gave him a
self-made go-kart when he was 4 years. When he was a bit older (8),
almost everyone in his neighboorhood had a kart, so they decided to organize
a race. At first Ayrton's father (Milton) didn't allow him to race
because the others were much older then him(17-21years), but eventually
his father let him race.
The grid was decided with little peaces of paper
inside a helmet. Because Ayrton was the youngest he got the first
pic, and he took number 1. So that really was his first pole-position.
He didn't win though, he led 30-35 laps out of
40, because he was light he was very fast at the straight so they couldn't
overtake him there. 5-6 laps before the end, somebody pushed him
off.
Officialy it started the 1st of July 1973, with a race at Interlagos, which he...won...ofcourse
